Why I am storing my baby’s core blood cells
To be honest, I didn’t know much about storing your baby’s core blood cells prior to being pregnant with baby number three. I didn’t really know what it meant or what the benefits were….but, having seen an ad at @thekensingtonwing about @smartcellsOfficial I was intrigued and decided to find out more. And OMG, i now wish I had done it with my two other babies. The benefits are insane!! Also just to point out, this isn’t a sponsored post - I just think it’s amazing what they are doing so wanted to share! Here’s some info:
👶 Why should I consider storing my baby’s stem cells?
The stem cells found in the baby’s umbilical cord are invaluable and can be used to help treat or cure a illness for the baby. There are over 80 diseases that can be treated using these stem cells including Leukaemia, Cerebral Palsy and Hodgkins Lymphoma.
👶Who else could it help in my family?
The baby’s stem cells could potentially be used if a match to treat siblings or the parents. Siblings are a 1 in 4 match. So your baby could literally help save a siblings life!
👶How is the sample collected?
The samples are collected at the time of birth once baby and placenta have been delivered. Smart Cells will organise for a healthcare professional to collect the sample. The collection process is easy and non-invasive as the sample is collected from the umbilical cord after delivery.
👶Does it cause any risk to me or the baby during birth?
Not at all as the samples are collected after baby has been safely delivered provided both mother and baby are ok.
👶How much does it cost?
It cost’s £2545 to collect and process the samples and then a £100 a year storage fee is payable annually for the duration of the storage period..
If anyone would like anymore info on this then please do drop me a DM. I honestly think it’s one of the best things you can do for your family
